Natural Hair, Creamy Crack, Natural Hair, Creamy Crack…
Ok so my hair is natural. I did the big chop in feb 2011 but I had my last relaxer put in the summer before. That should mean that I am a year and a bit old. So…I feel that makes me old enough to talk about my views on this lol.
THERE IS NO MATHS TO IT…
The most important thing is to keep your hair healthy just as much as your body. I’ve heard a lot of people say creamy crack i.e. relaxer is bad because it has sodium hydroxide which pretty much destroys hair protein blah-di-blah-di-blah…
However, I believe that there is no product a person uses that doesn’t contain some form of damaging chemical in it. Shower gels, face washes… all these things contain harmful chemicals but these products have been justified by people because it gives them the results that they want.
Check your reasons! At the end of the day, you do what works for you. Not many people can handle their hair being natural. It takes money, effort and timmmmmmmmeeeeeeee! I-can-not-even-begin-to-stress how much time it takes. There are so many times that I want to relax my hair but for some reason whenever I style it, I remember why I fell in love in the first place.
Yes! youtube videos are helpful but find someone or people with the same type of hair as yours before you make any decisions. For instance, am African hence I should focus on someone who is African too. Not mixed.
I know a number of people who have relaxed healthy hair. You just have to find a way around it. Take the necessary measures needed to reduce damage. Some people use relaxers on their hair every 6 months and it works for them.
Trial and error! The only way you find out what your hair regime is. Some people get it right the first time but most times, you have to make the mistakes, learn from them and adapt.
Never the less, I am still pro-natural because my hair is much stronger and fuller. Those who know me know how thin and light my hair is. And even though it is natural, it is still quite manageable.
Here is an article that I came across…
Hope this helps. xxx
